Green Champions - Employee Spotlight
Reducing emissions is more than a buzzword – it’s a critical part of sustainability that impacts not only the environment but also social and governance aspects of businesses today.
At Indepth, we take reducing emissions seriously and have made it a core part of our sustainability strategy. We are taking strong and practical measures to help reduce our carbon footprint and reach Net Zero by 2044 or sooner.
To drive meaningful change, we’ve established a dedicated ESG team, which includes a Director of ESG and an in-house specialist. This team is responsible for developing and implementing initiatives that minimise our carbon footprint, optimise energy efficiency, and promote sustainable practices throughout our operations.
We sat down with Matthew, our ESG Advisor at Indepth, to discuss why reducing emissions is so vital and how both companies and individuals can contribute to a more sustainable future.
Why Reducing Emissions Matters
For Matthew, emissions reduction is at the heart of the environmental aspect of the ESG framework. He explains, "Emissions directly impact climate change, air quality, and the health of ecosystems. It’s not just an environmental issue; it’s a social responsibility. More and more, customers and investors expect businesses to take action."
At Indepth, reducing the company’s carbon footprint is about more than compliance. It’s about integrity, one of our core values. "We believe in leading by example," Matthew says. "We’re committed to creating a healthier planet for future generations."
How Companies Can Cut Emissions
At Indepth we have embraced several strategies to reduce emissions. Matthew highlights energy efficiency as a key focus. “We’re optimising our routes to reduce fuel consumption, switching to renewable energy sources, and using energy-efficient equipment. Additionally, we're managing waste more efficiently and reducing single-use plastics in our cleaning supplies.”
Education is another vital aspect of their approach. “We engage our team regularly to make sure everyone understands how their actions contribute to the company’s sustainability goals. It’s a collective effort. We have also incorporated a green team, where we have monthly meetings to discuss and plan strategies to help further reduce our emissions”
The Role of Consumers
Consumers also have a significant impact. “By choosing to support companies that have strong sustainability practices, consumers can drive change. We all have the power to shape industries,” he adds.
How Clients Can Contribute
At Indepth Cleaning, collaboration is key. “We’re transparent about our sustainability goals because we want our clients to be part of the solution,” Matthew explains. “We offer eco-friendly cleaning solutions and products, which help reduce their environmental impact too.”
Matthew believes that sharing best practices with clients can inspire them to adopt their own sustainability measures. “We provide tips on reducing energy consumption and managing waste. It’s all about creating an open dialogue and working together to drive change.”
Final Thoughts: Every Action Matters
Matthew leaves us with a clear message: "Reducing emissions is something we all need to own, whether it's switching to renewable energy, choosing sustainable products, or making small changes in our daily habits. Every action counts."
At Indepth, the commitment to reducing emissions is part of a broader promise to trust, respect, and integrity. “We’re not just cleaning spaces,” Matthew says, “we’re contributing to a cleaner planet.”
Whether you’re a business or an individual, there’s a role for everyone to play in reducing emissions and building a more sustainable future.
